Haste Makes Mistakes

"Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes."
 -Proverbs 19:2 (NLT)

Hindsight can be devastating and haunting for years. Looking back...or down and over analyzing what could have been when you know you messed up can steal your joy for as long as you will let it. We don't have to face our past daily as a surmountable and never ending nightmare without end.

By choosing to weigh every new decision by the power of the Holy Spirit and asking for his wisdom, truly listening, and stopping the chatter, you can tune into whether the Lord has truly given you peace to move forward in a circumstance or opportunity. Slowing down and not fretting about your current situation and acting in haste can and will save you from a world of heartache. Yes, a testimony is good, but having the knowledge before hastily moving forward is better than all of the heartache that comes from missing out on the Lord's perfect will for your life.

We can use the past, our testimony, to push us forward into a promised
future of grace and hope once and for all.

Have you ever made a decision that caused you to go the long way around and lose your way altogether? I think we all have and if you haven't...you probably will before you are laid to rest. Life is hard to navigate. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can be led and brought through the muck of lies as the enemy targets us with flaming darts to take our focus off of our true purpose.

The enemy chooses your greatest moment of weakness to plant his lies and tempt you beyond your belief. Trust me... I have been led astray by material things. Sometimes we face such hard trials that we find ourselves backing away from where God has us just to find provision. We take our eyes off of the hands of our Savior and take things into our own hands. Before we know it, we are sitting in a puddle of mud and just can't scrape off the mistakes on our own.

The good news is we don't have to clean ourselves up. He cleans up our messes and makes something beautiful from it. That mess becomes even more beautiful and the flaming darts the enemy had thrown are smothered by the Almighty as he sets us ablaze with HIS OWN BLAZING AND FIERY LOVE.

Dear Lord,

Please help us to trust you enough to lead us when we cannot see. If tragedy strikes, hold us even closer so we can feel your Spirit within us. Help us to navigate when our heart is weakened by loss. Let your perfect will be done in our lives. Let us not make quick decisions that would lead to mistakes, but deliver us from our funneled perception to live out your purpose regardless of our circumstance.  Perfect love casts out fear and that is all that we need.
