He Was More Than A Man

Jesus was more than a man.

He walked among the people as a man, but in his words were life and in his hands were healing power.  He fulfilled his Father's will by performing miracles and showing a true love and compassion for people.  But that has been so many, many years ago since He walked the dusty streets while chatting with others and pouring out wisdom beyond his years.

Now he sits on a throne, having defeated death, hell, and the grave for us.

I am almost twenty eight years old.  I am coming up on the approximate age of my Savior when he was crucified on the cross.  They say he was thirty-three.  When I look at my reflection in the mirror there's some grey hair starting to press through.  I have scars from bearing children, and my skin is not as new as it once was.  But what do I have to say for this time that has been given to me?

What have I done in my twenty-eight years in comparison to Jesus Christ?  In my flesh, I would be quick to say, "I have done a lot."  I would be eager to tell you all that has been accomplished, and all of the lives that have been changed over the past ten years of serving in the church.

But is this pleasing to the Lord, really?

Let me explain.  I think this world complicates things.  We hold our head too high sometimes, saying "Look what we have done."  Jesus knew the people by their faith without even speaking with them.  He could walk into a room and know the amount of faith the person or group had according to the discernment his Father gave him.  It is our faith in him that he wants.  He wants us to know who he is and what he is capable of.

If He walked into your home today, would he be eager to bless you with His miraculous power?

Would He know you as His follower and would he see you as a zealous "believer"?

This morning I was reading in Matthew 13.  This is what I read.

"When Jesus finished these parables, he moved on from there.  Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed.  'Where did this man get his wisdom and these miraculous powers?', they asked.  'Isn't this the carpenter's son?  Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?  Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?' And they took offense to him.

But Jesus said to them, 'Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.'
And he did not do many miracles there
because of their lack of faith."

Is there something you are believing for, but have yet to come to that place of complete faith.

Make your faith complete and believe in
his power.  Do not doubt, he is more than capable to
complete those things he has started in you.
