Be Still and Know

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10  NIV)

I can't look back on any of my days this week and tell you that they have gone smoothly or as planned.  I have had a wonderful week, but there is always the element of surprise when you have kids or even if you are outside of the home in the workplace.  Life is just full of surprises on a daily basis.  But that is where our reliance on the Lord comes in.

Spilled milk and a crying toddler that can't understand how he made such a huge mess so quickly reminds me of myself on a daily basis.  I am much like my little man.  I make a mess of things more than not and then I sit there wondering how in the world I am going to get it clean in my own power.

I come behind my 2 year old and pick him up telling him that he is ok and accidents happen.  I grab a towel and the mop and begin making the mess disappear.  Now, what was overwhelming to my little boy is clean.  He was just sure there was no way to get that much milk up off of the floor.  But he looks up to me for a solution, saying "uh oh, mama..."

It is simple.  It really is elementary, but I think we forget and make things more complicated than they need to be because we serve a mighty creator who is waiting on you to call on him.  He is not a genie with a lamp to rub, but his love for you is more than we can ever imagine and he has empowered you to walk through that tough thing you have in front of you.  He has your best interest at heart.

He is not overwhelmed by our messes and we are not overcome.

We are over comers because of him.

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33 ESV
