We learned more about some of the coolest animals in the world as a family this week. This giant tortoise was one of the highlights of our visit to Brackenridge Park & Zoo in San Antonio. The kids asked more questions about science and animal life than they do during a semester of studying science combined. We didn't want to leave. The elephants were swaying their trunks and their hips as if dancing to a familiar tune. The monkeys were active as if they didn't know they were confined. The crocs and alligators were lazy, while the crabs did their own little "robot dance" in their aquariums. We saw so many things and enjoyed our time as a family of five. This was the first time we had ever gone anywhere other than the local grocery store with our new addition to the family, baby Eli.We made it to the zoo early before the crowd and we were leaving just as it was getting too hot. It was a perfect family day. The kids were able to see bats in their dark caves, and they learned that the ostrich is the largest bird in the world. The pythons were huge, and that was my least favorite part. I was able to get some great shots of the boys for our photo collection and to give to family members. There are some of the greatest backgrounds for photos at the zoo. It just couldn't have been more fun!
