A Fun Addition To Our Week
Yesterday my boys and I visited the library for the weekly reading program. I believe I will make this a part of our weekly homeschool schedule. We have been going to the library frequently but never on these days. The books that were read to the children were all about "dogs". The kids made little puppy dog puppets as their craft. Afterwards, my boys love to play on the computer games and find books to take home to read as a family. I love to see their interaction with the other kids while singing and dancing and answering questions about the stories that are being read to them. This is a great way to add fun to your "Reading Comprehension" portion of your curriculum. My four year old was so excited! He spoke to the librarian as if he, himself, were an adult. He spoke out and said, "Let's read the story now." I don't know about your kids, but my kids LOVE to be read to. The library has so many books that help offer a visual to "Life Lessons" that we as mommas have to constantly remind our children about. I picked up one called, I Am Responsible, one called Please, and one called It's Mine! that talks about sharing. I plan on focusing on "A Healthy Diet" in the weeks to come by finding resources online and at my local library (videos, articles, books, etc.). I will let you know how that goes!
