Fill Your Basket: Enable A Good Thing

I was on the phone with someone recently.  He spoke of his calling to be an enabler for the church (God's people) by providing for his family.  It was his position to be a money earner and enable himself and his wife and children to be more involved in the needs of the church.  He is an educated man willing to provide his services and enable the church (God's people) when his expertise is needed, and ultimately help bring others to salvation.  His brick is just one brick, but it is a brick and it is needed for the foundation of the church to be complete.

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

I have tossed the idea around in my head for weeks.
We are called to give, to go, to be good stewards with what the Lord has given us and the ideas and talents he has placed within us.

I am not talking about money and giving away our finances for an increase.  I am talking about increasing our knowledge and spiritual wisdom to be ready to give a witness to the Lord's greatness in our lives.  We have been created in His image and He has created us in His beauty to do miraculous things through the power He has placed in us.

We are called to fill our baskets in order that we may have something to give to the physically hurting or lacking and the spiritually thirsty or dying.  Our baskets are either empty and we are walking around aimlessly trying to help others with nothing to give, or they are full and we are freely giving to all those around us on a daily basis. With no truth to impart, and no food to give we are useless.

Some of us don't even have a basket, and it is just all about us... all the time.  We need to carry our baskets and make sure they are full.

This is what I mean...

The Lord doesn't want us to be useless.  He wants us to educate ourselves, girt ourselves, and fill our baskets to overflowing so that when someone comes to us in need we are ready to give, ready to move by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I believe the Lord places specific talents, ideas, and traits into our DNA in order to perform a work.  We have to look deeper and recognize these talents and nurture them so they will grow.

If you have an interest, educate yourself and tie it to a stake until it can stand on its own and produce fruit.  Our minds and our hearts are so complicated sometimes.  We don't always see our strengths, and often times we only focus on our weaknesses.  This is a waste.

Ask the Lord to open the eyes of your heart to see those things He has placed inside of you.  Then begin your garden of abilities.  Nurture the seeds He has given you.  Then when a by passer comes by hungry...YOU CAN FEED HIM.

Proverbs 10:4

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Our goal in this life, should not be to get ahead on the totem pole, but to increase our knowledge and invite the Lord to have His way.  He only wants good for you.  He wants you to be successful in all that you do.  He wants to bless you for your hard work.

Do not let your hands (or your minds) become idle.  Continue to fill your basket and feel the joy of being an enabler for the kingdom of heaven.  His blessings are sure to follow when you have his heart for people and you are open to raising the standards for yourself in working hard to produce a crop of blessing for others.

Many of us are walking around not watering anything, just trying to get through our day.  But there are things deep within yourself that need to be opened and placed under nurturing soil to produce fruit for your life.

Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Walk in humility, pursue a higher calling, reach your goals, and make a way for yourself
and others by the power of His grace.
