My mom and dad built a special prayer and prayed over me every night. Over the years it never became redundant or boring, but it started to flow from own mouth eloquently. Those words were never empty, because my parents never prayed over me with an empty heart. Even though they may have prayed similar words, like music to a song, they never let them hit my hears void of emotion and faith.
Just yesterday, I sent my boys to Meme's house. This is a usual occurrence, at least two to three times per week. But yesterday I had the inclination to pray for my boys before they left. I was bathing the baby and I called the oldest two in there to stand beside me. I pulled them close and prayed for them.
My oldest said, "Was that our nighttime prayer since we won't be here?" His face lit up that I took the time to pray for him outside of our regular routine.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to pray for my children. I believe that the prayers of my own mom and dad saved me from a world of heartache. Their faith was instilled into me at a young age and I have carried it with me in my own parenting.
Here is free printable you can download and post to your fridge or put in your favorite spot to help you in praying for your kids. Whether they are young and toddling through the house or grown and out of the house, its always a good time.
